The focus of the Court Reporting Institute of St. Louis is to prepare students to become Certified Court Reporters by developing their machine shorthand speed to 225 words a minute and typing speed to 50 net wpm.  The Court Reporting Institute of St. Louis provides the tools to build a solid foundation in English grammar and punctuation, legal and medical terminologies, anatomy, psychology, speech, courtroom and deposition procedures, and transcription via computer. A graduate of the St. Louis court reporting program may seek employment as an official court reporter, stenographer, freelance or deposition reporter, or as a captioner.

Facilities
The Court Reporting Institute of St. Louis is dedicated to providing students with the materials needed to successfully complete court reporter training degree programs. Labs are open additional hours to provide work-study time outside of classes.  Each student is also provided with online resources such as library services, a student portal, email and online companion courses.
